Blue Jackets right wing Jared Boll no longer wears a protective boot on his left foot. He’s not limping, either.

Boll, once feared to be lost for the rest of the regular season after ankle-ligament surgery, might beat the odds and return in March or April, he said.

“It’s ahead of schedule,” Boll said. “We’ll see.”

Boll has yet to attempt skating and said he isn’t sure when that might happen. But that might be how he spends his Olympic break next month. While some players will be in Russia for the Olympics and others on a midseason vacation, Boll likely will be at Nationwide Arena, skating and rehabilitating the ankle.
