The quarterback who led the Panthers to their only Super Bowl appearance addressed the current team Wednesday.
And Jake Delhomme still can take over a room.

Speaking to players before their walkthrough Delhomme told them about the city's electric fan base and encouraged them to cherish their time with the Panthers – a message he repeated at the team's annual kickoff luncheon later in the day at the Convention Center.
This is the 10-year anniversary of the Panthers' lone Super Bowl season and Delhomme was one of several members of the '03 team who spoke during a round table-type discussion at the luncheon.
Panthers left tackle Jordan Gross who was a rookie in 2003 said Delhomme told current players “how special this place is” and to enjoy their opportunity.

“And how hard the seats are to get and keep in the room” Gross said. “And how he misses it everyday wishing he was still part of this team.”

Gross said Delhomme commanded everyone's attention even young players who were never teammates with him.
“His reputation precedes him here” Gross said. “Everybody knows he's somebody that's worthy of your attention.”
