X-rays on the sprained right (throwing) thumb of Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert came back negative tonight during the team’s 37-13 loss to the New York Jets.

Gabbert was injured during the third and final series.

“I just dinged it up a little bit; nothing major” Gabbert said in the locker room. “It just got bent back a little bit. I think he tried to swat the ball and on the follow through we bumped thumbs.

“It was just unfortunate but it’s part of the game. We’ll see tomorrow what the deal is and just move on.”

Gabbert was 13-of-16 for 165 yards and one touchdown in 30 snaps of work.

“It was good” he said. “We got in a good rhythm early and had some tempo on the first couple drives. I just want to see more consistency.”
