"I talked to a few organizations about a two-way deal, but this just felt like the best fit," Gibbons said. "I feel like there's going to be an opportunity there, and I'm excited to get to camp and try to earn it."

Gibbons (5-8. 170 pounds) played 41 games with the Penguins in 2013-14, totaling 5-12-17, with a plus-5 rating and only six penalty minutes. In eight Stanley Cup playoff games, he had two goals and an assist. Those two goals came against Columbus -- only 54 seconds apart -- in Game, which with the Jackets won 4-3 in overtime.
