With the Senators’ 4-2 win over the Bruins last night in Boston, the Islanders finished as the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference, giving them a spot opposite the Penguins in the first round of the NHL playoffs.

The Penguins, who finished on top in the East with 72 points, won eight of their last 10 games. Sidney Crosby began practicing with the team last week, but hasn’t played since March 30, when he took a puck to the face during a 2-0 win over the Islanders.

The Penguins, who went 4-1 against the Isles this season, are slated to host Game 1 on Wednesday.
