New York Islanders forward Michael Grabner will have a disciplinary hearing with the NHL’s department of player safety on Monday after delivering a contentious elbow to the head of Carolina Hurricanes forward Nathan Gerbe.

The incident occurred during the Hurricanes’ 4-3 victory on Saturday at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

At 6:42 of the first period Gerbe rushed into the Isles’ zone and while in the process of releasing a shot from the left wing faceoff circle was hit high by a back-checking Grabner.

No penalty was called on the play and Gerbe played his regular shifts after the collision.
