New York Islanders assistant coach Brent Thompson has been suspended two games for his outburst at the end of Thursday night's 2-1 overtime loss to the New York Rangers, the league announced Friday.
The entire Islanders bench appeared livid after Marian Gaborik notched the game-winning goal -- a power-play marker -- 42 seconds into overtime. Kyle Okposo received a 10-minute misconduct and the Islanders' team staff received a game misconduct as they exited the ice.
According to the NHL release, Thompson made "inappropriate and abusive" comments toward the officiating crew
