The Reds beat the Cubs 4-1 on Wednesday, but may have lost second baseman Brandon Phillips and center fielder Billy Hamilton to injury.

Hamilton left before the eighth inning with a tight left hamstring and Phillips left during the eighth inning with a sprained left thumb. X-rays on Phillips' thumb were negative.

Phillips left the Reds' clubhouse with a brace on his left thumb, but didn't speak to the media.

Hamilton said he'd been dealing with the hamstring injury for a couple of days and didn't want to take any chances when he felt it tighten on his final at-bat in the seventh.

"When I get in (Thursday), we'll see how everything goes and see how I'm feeling, and maybe get it checked out if it's not feeling too good," Hamilton said.

While Hamilton left quietly in a double switch to bring in Jonathan Broxton for the eighth inning, Phillips' injury was much more visible.
