The Indians have released right-hander Brett Myers.

Myers had been sidelined since April 19 because of an elbow strain and the Indians activated him from the 60-day DL just prior to cutting him loose. The Indians signed Myers to a one-year $7-million contract this past offseason. In 2013 Myers notched an ERA of 8.02 in 21 1/3 innings.

For his career the 33-year-old Myers has pitched to a 4.25 ERA (99 ERA+) 1.33 WHIP and 2.48 K/BB ratio across parts of 12 major-league seasons. In 2010 Myers as a member of the Astros finished 10th in the NL Cy Young balloting.
