The future of the franchise — Sven Baertschi — scored one.
The face of the franchise — Jarome Iginla — scored another.
And with a crucial point on the line in an intense overtime session, a guy that many have fingered as a failure of the Calgary Flames franchise — Matt Stajan — scored the biggest goal of them all.
Stajan finished off a two-on-one rush with winger Blake Comeau to lift his squad to Tuesday's 3-2 overtime triumph over the San Jose Sharks at the Saddledome, a result that leaves the Flames in a four-way logjam for eighth spot in the Western Conference standings.
With the overtime loss, the Sharks joined that fray at 78 points, too. Ditto for the Colorado Avalanche and the Los Angeles Kings.
