After his tricky catch helped the Yankees to win today's day-night doubleheader opener, Ichiro Suzuki said this about playing (and winning) for the first time behind Andy Pettitte:
"To get a win for him was very special," Ichiro said through his interpreter. "He really fits (here)…he's just a Yankee."
Ichiro then completed his finest night in pinstripes, going 4-for-4 with four steals in the nightcap and driving in the go-ahead run.
Game 1: 4-2, Yanks.
Game 2: 2-1, Yanks.
Rafael Soriano saved both, getting seven outs for saves No. 41 and 42.
