It was almost as if everyone in the building knew what was coming next. Just before 10 p.m. last night, Ichiro Suzuki calmly walked up to home plate with Curtis Granderson 90 feet away on third base and Toronto left-handed reliever Aaron Loup on the mound. Ichiro fouled off the first pitch down the third base line.
He didn't miss on the second.
The Yankee outfielder turned back the clock in the nightcap of yesterday's doubleheader, notching four hits — including knocking home the go-ahead run in the Yankees' 2-1 win in Game 2.
Oh, and as if that weren't enough, he picked up three hits in the afternoon — a 4-2 win over the Blue Jays.
