Padres third baseman Chase Headley jammed his thumb while trying to break up a double play against the Angels on Sunday, prompting him to leave the game after just one inning to undergo an X-ray.
Immediately after his team's 7-4 loss to the Angels at Tempe Diablo Stadium, Padres manager Bud Black said he was still awaiting results of the X-ray, but added that Headley will not play on Monday, at the very least.
Asked for his level of concern, Black said: "I'm always concerned about our players, even when they're healthy. But this is a very important player for us and we're hoping for the best."
