The Nationals on Saturday placed Bryce Harper on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Monday, due to bursitis in his left knee and recalled right-hander Erik Davis from Triple-A Syracuse.

Harper missed the past five games, and the knee has bothered him since he crashed into the wall at Dodger Stadium on May 13. The 20-year-old won the National League Rookie of the Year Award last season and is batting .287 with 12 homers and 23 RBIs through 44 games in 2013.
