Indianapolis Colts fans, along with supporters of the 31 other NFL franchises, have March 12 circled on their calendars.

That’s the start of the NFL’s free agent signing period and trading period. It’s a time when big names begin relocating, with even bigger contracts ensuing.

In previous years, the Colts have been selective shoppers. Their salary-cap structure didn’t allow for big-ticket purchases.

That has changed in general manager Ryan Grigson’s second season. The Colts have more than $43 million in cap space and several positions that require attention.
