On the first day of NFL offseason workouts — though they're voluntary — it's often about which players aren't there as opposed to which are in the building, working hard and bonding with teammates.

For the New York Giants, Monday was about whether Victor Cruz would show.

He did not.

The fourth-year wide receiver did not report to the Giants' facility by the 11:30 a.m. ET deadline to count their participation for the day, according to a person informed of the attendance for the day. The person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the team did not publicly state which players were in the building, said the Giants weren't surprised by Cruz's absence.

The person also said Cruz has been in the building on plenty of occasions this offseason. He also caught passes from quarterback Eli Manning (as well as Manning's brother, Peyton) during workouts at Duke University last week.
