ROBERTO MANCINI is set to return to Manchester in January in the hopes of signing United winger Antonio Valencia.

Reports in Turkey suggest that Mancini is contemplating a number of moves in the winter transfer window to strengthen the squad he inherited from Fatih Terim.

And according to Turkish sports newspaper Fanatik Mancini is hopeful the Ecuador international can be persuaded to leave Old Trafford after falling down the pecking order under David Moyes.

The paper suggests that the emergence of Adnan Januzaj at United has made Valencia even more dispensable.

It is thought that Galatasaray will offer Untied approximately £12.5m for Valencia and will back it up with a wage packet worth almost £3.5m a year.

The paper also reports that Galatasaray could face competition for Valencia from Everton who are interested in the 28-year-old as a makeweight in any deal for Leighton Baines.
