Chad Billingsley is no stranger to being a hero in Dodgers victories. Javy Guerra and Rafael Furcal joined him as being instrumental in Friday's 1-0 victory over the San Diego Padres.
Guerra and Furcal haven't been in that position much this year.
Billinsgley pitched a brilliant game, in which he allowed just four hits and no runs through eight innings. Guerra loaded the bases to start the ninth inning, then recorded the next three outs to earn the save.
Furcal singled in the winning run to right field in the eighth inning, driving in Trent Oeltjen.
The Dodgers' offensive fireworks from the previous night against the New York Mets - they won 6-0 - were nonexistent.
But Friday's one run was good enough for the Dodgers to win back-to-back games after five consecutive losses.
They had a team meeting before Thursday's victory against the Mets.
Asked if the two wins were coincidental or a product of that, Billingsley only smiled.
