The England midfielder yesterday resumed full training with the Blues squad 15 days after suffering a muscle injury in the 2-1 defeat of Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

At first it was feared the 35-year-old had a more serious problem in the thigh/hip area.

But a scan came back clear and Lampard started light training on Wednesday.

On Monday he stepped that up and looks certain to be available for the eagerly-awaited showdown at Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, the impending £21m return of midfielder Nemanja Matic will see boss Jose Mourinho end his interest in Inter Milan’s Fredy Guarin.

Chelsea are using the £9m profit from the sale of Kevin De Bruyne to Wolfsburg to help finance the purchase of Matic, 25, who joined Benfica in 2011 as part of the swap deal which saw David Luiz come to Stamford Bridge.
