Former Tottenham star Luka Modric claims that Chelsea, Manchester United and PSG all tried to sign him.

The Real Madrid star attracted huge interest in the summer after a difficult first year in the Spanish capital.

However Modric has lifted the lid on his situation claiming that prior to leaving Tottenham, the now Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti attempt to bring him to Chelsea and PSG.

"Ancelotti wanted me. A year ago in PSG and 2011 in Chelsea," he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"But then Andre Villas-Boas came and Tottenham did not want to give me up.

"I also knew of the interest of the United and even if the transfer did not materialise, the public appreciation of a great like Sir Alex is a big pride for me."

New United manager David Moyes saw attempts to bring Modric to Old Trafford in the summer fail to materialise.
