George Atkinson Jr. slowly walks out to the field at the Raiders' training camp, just as he did as a hard-hitting safety for the team in the 1970s. But these two weeks, Atkinson is quiet and merely an observer, watching his son try to make the team that has become part of the family.

"Not nervous at all for him," Atkinson Jr. said. "It's just a game he's been playing since he was a kid. As long as he works hard and is prepared, he will be fine. I wasn't nervous watching him in high school or college, so there is no reason to get started now."
