Green Bay Packers vice president Ted Thompson served as a mentor of sorts for John Dorsey, the Chiefs' new general manager. Dorsey spent the last 13 seasons as Green Bay’s director of college scouting before he joined the Chiefs last month.
But Thompson said today at the NFL Scouting Combine that he sent Dorsey away without any parting advice.
“John doesn’t need my advice,’’ Thompson said. “I saw him earlier today. He’s going a million miles an hour because he’s trying to get up to speed and he and (new Chiefs coach Andy Reid) both are both really good football people. I’ve worked with both of them and the Chiefs are in good hands. I promise you on that. I haven’t given him any real advice other than to be himself.
