Raiders coach Dennis Allen made it official Wednesday: rookie Matt McGloin is now the Raiders backup quarterback and Matt Flynn is No. 3. Re Flynn: “It is what it is. It didn’t work out” Allen said.

Flynn making $6.5 million guaranteed this year was brought in by general manager Reggie McKenzie to be the starting quarterback and was beaten out by Terrelle Pryor in the preseason. He did not play well for an injured Pryor last week against the Redskins and Allen said he wants to see what McGloin can do as the backup. Allen said McGloin undrafted out of Penn State has “moxie.”

As for Pryor Allen said he is “symptom-free” from his concussion and will start for the Raiders against the Chargers Sunday night.
