Forward prospect Taylor Leier from Saskatoon Saskatchewan agreed to a three-year entry level contract with the Flyers just hours before Monday’s rookie game against the Washington Capitals in Arlington Va.

The contract is worth $2.56 million with an annual average value of $853500 and includes games played bonuses. On cue he ended up scoring Monday vs. the Caps.

Leier 19 was the Flyers’ fourth-round pick in 2012. He was also the only rookie camp casualty this year taking a puck to the face on Sunday that required stitches to his cheek.

That gives the Flyers 50 contracts but because of his age Leier has junior eligibility remaining allowing the Flyers to use the “slide rule” for next season.
