Both Wayne Simmonds and Jakub Voracek were at the Wells Fargo Center Wednesday afternoon but only one of them participated in practice.

Simmonds who had been battling the flu since the Flyers’ trip to Lake Placid N.Y. last week took part in the full hour-long session. In fact it was the second consecutive day the right winger was on the ice – he skated before Tuesday’s 2-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils too.

Coach Peter Laviolette said he looked like his old self despite having lost a few pounds while fighting the illness.

“He looked great" coach Peter Laviolette said. “He was loose he was popping around the ice he had great snap on his stick and was jumping around on his skates so he looked good to me.”

The Flyers have only two preseason games remaining before their Oct. 2 regular-season opener. Simmonds will at a minimum play in Thursday’s game against the Devils in Newark N.J.

He’s ready to return.

“I’m fine” Simmonds said. “Had a good practice yesterday before the game too. I was good yesterday just coming back off the flu. But I feel healthy feel strong and ready to go.”
