Cris Carter and Warren Sapp were always known as brash athletes who weren't stunned by too many things. Now that they are Hall of Famers, they were in awe on Saturday.
And for Carter, who waited six long years to hear his named called from Executive Director Steve Perry, he was overcome with emotion.
On stage and immediately following Saturday's ceremony announcing the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Class of 2013, the Middletown High School product was driven to tears each time he thought about now being part of football's most elite group.
"It's unbelievable. There's no type of preparation. It's the most amazing thing that has happened to me," Carter said.
"After I didn't make the first or second year they told me it will still be awesome. To be in a class like this, it's unreal. I'm forever humbled."
