Falcons fullback Patrick DiMarco is coming on as a lead blocker for Steven Jackson.

He had a strong day blocking against Carolina when they went to the I-formation.

“He’s doing a nice job,” offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter said. “He’s gotten healthier since training camp. We are pleased with what he’s doing.”

DiMarco, 6-foot-1, 234 pounds, was signed to the practice squad on Sept. 1. When Bradie Ewing was lost for the season to a shoulder injury, DiMarco, who played at South Carolina, was signed to the active roster on Sept. 17. He has also spent time with San Diego and Kansas City.

“I’m just trying to block well,” DiMarco said. “When the ball is coming to me, I have to catch it. I just want to handle my business.”

He wants to add some toughness to the offense when he’s on the field.
