The Colts signed veteran quarterback Josh Johnson Friday, a move related to the uncertain status of Andrew Luck for Sunday’s game vs. the Jaguars.

Luck has been limited in practice for two days with a right shoulder injury. Though Colts coach Chuck Pagano has said he’s confident Luck will be able to play, adding Johnson gives the team some insurance. Veteran Matt Hasselbeck is the team’s No. 2 quarterback.

Alex Tanney, who’s never played in an NFL game, is on the practice squad. The Colts chose Johnson over Tanney as the emergency option.

Luck has not missed a game in his career since the Colts made him the No. 1 overall pick in 2012.
