With the departure of so many big names from the Ravens early in free agency, fans were probably hoping the exodus was over.

They may have to brace themselves for one more.

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle tweeted this today:

The Texans' first visit will be with S Ed Reed. He'll be at their facility on Thursday. They need a vet to replace Glover Quin.

There has been speculation about possible landing spots for Ed Reed for months now and, as McClain points out, Houston would make sense. Last season’s safety Glover Quin signed with Detroit today so Houston needs a veteran to bolster their secondary.

Baltimore, however, suddenly finds itself in need of leadership on the defensive side of the ball. With the announcement today that the team cut Bernard Pollard, the Ravens are now without four defensive starters from their championship team. Allowing Reed to walk away may be cutting too close to the bone.

Don’t despair though, Baltimore.
