This probably didn't play real well in the clubhouse of the Baltimore Orioles, who are trying to beat out the New York Yankees for the AL East title, but the Red Sox took on the Yankees Monday night without either Dustin Pedroia or Jacoby Ellsbury in the starting lineup.

Pedroia jammed a finger on his left hand diving into a base Sunday in Baltimore, though neither he nor manager Bobby Valentine were eager to disclose details. Valentine only said Pedroia had hurt himself in the game.

"What's wrong with me?" Pedroia cracked as he strode through the clubhouse. "A lot of things. I'm (expletive) up in the head."
