After recently receiving a pain-killing injection, Adam Dunn hopes to resume batting practice Wednesday with the hope of returning soon to the White Sox's lineup.
"I want to wait until I have no problems, as opposed to coming back a day or two early and having this thing do this again and missing significant time," Dunn said Tuesday before missing his fifth consecutive start after aggravating his right oblique strain.
Dunn admitted it was "stupid" of him to return too soon after missing games on Sept. 1-2 because of the injury he originally suffered on a checked swing on Aug. 29.
"What we're trying to do is get it to where I can swing," Dunn said before taking a dry swing in the clubhouse. "That's the problem. It's not getting out of bed now. It's not sneezing. I'm not going to pick up a bat (Tuesday) and hopefully (Wednesday) they'll let me do some stuff."
