The Pacific Division-leading Ducks acquired center David Steckel from the Toronto Maple Leafs for minor-league winger Ryan Lasch and a seventh-round draft pick in 2014. Steckel played in 13 games this season for the Maple Leafs, collecting one assists.

"Adding David Steckel gives us another big body and depth up the middle," Ducks general manager Bob Murray said in a statement. "He comes highly recommended from Bruce (Boudreau, the Ducks' coach). Faceoffs have been something of a concern for us the last few seasons."

The 31-year-old Steckel played for Boudreau when both were with the Washington Capitals.
