Matt Duchene? has never had a significant injury in his three-year NHL career, but that might have changed.

Duchene, the top-line Avs forward with 12 goals and 24 points entering Thursday's game with Phoenix, sustained a right knee injury in the first period and did not return.

Duchene was immediately listed as out for the rest of the night, and he limped off the ice. An MRI today will determine the extent of the injury.

Going to check Phoenix's Rostislav Klesla? along the boards in the defensive zone, Duchene appeared to plant his right skate into the ice, and the knee didn't turn along with his body.

Duchene has missed only three games in his career.
