Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp suffered an ankle injury sliding into home plate during Sunday's game against the Washington Nationals, his first back after nearly two weeks sitting out due to a shoulder ailment.

Kemp was on third base with the bases loaded and two outs as Carl Crawford took his hacks at the plate. Crawford hit a slow groundball to Adam LaRoche, but hustled down the line to beat the pitcher to the bag. LaRoche noticed that Kemp did not hustle to home plate, and fired the ball to the catcher.

Kemp then realized that he needed to get home, and lunged towards the plate. The outfielder rolled his ankle on the play, and was immediately removed from the game.
