Still uncertain of why he’s lost feeling in his pitching hand, Josh Beckett has booked a Monday appointment with a nerve specialist in Dallas.

Beckett, who is 0-5 with a 5.91 earned-run average, has been on the disabled list since May 15 with a strained groin. While his groin has recovered, Beckett said he hasn’t regained full feeling in his pitching hand.

Beckett said he has experienced various degrees of numbness the last four to five weeks. The numbness has been in his pinkie and ring fingers as well as his palm.

“The frustrating thing is that I don’t have pain,” Beckett said. “I’m dealing with ineffectiveness and numbness where I can’t actually feel the baseball.”
