AT THE PLATE: The most expensive team in baseball history was limited to three hits, but one came from Juan Uribe, who is trying to break out of a two-year slump. Outfield prospect Yasiel Puig hit a rocket to left field for a double that excited team Chairman Mark Walter. "Puig hit the ball hard, didn't he?" Walter said. "He's got speed too."
ON THE MOUND: Clayton Kershaw was charged with two runs and four hits in two innings. "I felt strong, so that's the most important thing right now," said Kershaw, who blamed the results on poor pitch selection.
EXTRA BASES: Hanley Ramirez played six errorless innings at shortstop. His only misstep was losing in the sun a first-inning pickoff throw from Kershaw. Ramirez made a spectacular play behind second base in the second inning, spinning and throwing out Dayan Viciedo to rob him of a hit. "That was an easy one," Ramirez said.
