On the heels of his best season in the NBA, things couldn't have gone much worse for Dirk Nowitzki in 2011-12. The forward showed up out of shape after a lengthy NBA lockout, and a Mavericks roster that was ravaged by free agency couldn't do much in trying to defend its first-ever NBA title, bowing out in the playoffs after a first-round sweep.

And while Nowitzki is ready to look ahead, he told KESN-FM's Coop & Nate Show this week that he plans to use last season as a learning experience.
