The Devils are a sloppy 3-0.

"This time of year I think you're seeing a lot of different stuff around the league. With short camps the games are all over the map," coach Pete DeBoer suggested. "We're going to take a bank as many points as we can.

"It's a little sloppy. Naturally with a small training camp and no exhibition games there are sloppy things happening on the ice all around the league. You just have to survive it and get two points. That's what we did."

Nevertheless, this is the Devils' best start since 2002-03.

"It's a confidence booster and knowing we're not playing our best hockey yet. We still have a long way to go. We'll get better," Patrik Elias said.
