Here are three stars from the Detroit Tigers following their 7-3 win over the Houston Astros in 14 innings on Thursday:

FIRST STAR: DON KELLY
Don Kelly has had some clutch moments in his brief career in Detroit. He added another Thursday with a go-ahead RBI single -- the centerpiece to a four-run 14th inning. Kelly, who came on to pinch-run for Victor Martinez in the eighth, struck out in his first at-bat in the 11th, but rebounded nicely in the 13th with a leadoff double. He was stranded at third, only to set him up for a dramatic run-scoring single in the 14th when he turned on a cutter and sent a grounder through the infield gap to score Austin Jackson. He finished 2-for-3 and watched his average climb from .192 to .241.

SECOND STAR: LUKE PUTKONEN
The Tigers' bullpen was absolutely terrific Thursday as four relievers combined to throw seven shutout innings. Jose Ortega, Joaquin Benoit, Darin Downs -- they're all deserving of a star, but it was Luke Putkonen who shut the final door on Houston after the Tigers took a four-run lead in the 14th. Making his season debut, Putkonen -- called up from Triple-A Toledo on Thursday -- worked 2 1/3 scoreless innings and struck out four, including his last two batters to preserve a 7-3 win en route to his first career victory.
