The Oakland Raiders have touted Matt Schaub as a long-term solution on par with the AFC West's best quarterbacks.

ESPN.com's Jim Trotter reported a few weeks back that second-round draft pick Derek Carr won't overtake Schaub barring a catastrophe this summer.

As it turns out, Carr already has shown the talent and intelligence during OTAs to get the organization thinking about turning to the rookie sooner rather than later.

Although Schaub continues to take the bulk of the first-team practice reps, NFL Media's Albert Breer reports there is now internal belief that the veteran will be pushed by Carr.
