Fabian Delph has opened the way for fresh contract talks at Aston Villa by revealing that he ‘would love to be here for the rest of my career’.

The midfielder 23 who has 20 months to run on his current deal is eager to repay the faith shown in him by Randy Lerner after a host of injury issues. The American owner even offered the midfielder a deal better than the one he originally signed after joining for £6.25million from Leeds United in 2009.

Delph said: ‘I’m sure if I stay fit which is a big thing for me then I might be offered a new contract
