Johnny Cueto was scratched from his start tonight. Right-hander Pedro Villarreal will start instead. Villarreal was 1-3 with a 5.03 ERA at Triple-A. He went seven innings and allowed two runs on four hits in his last start.

Today is Villarreal’s normal day to start. Left-hander Tony Cingrani, who replaced Cueto while he was on the disabled list, pitched Monday, making him unavailable.

Villarreal, 25, was a September call-up last year. He pitched one scoreless inning in his only outing.

The Reds have not announced why Cueto was scratched. He was on the DL with a strained lat; while there, he aggravated an oblique injury.
