The Cubs designated veteran reliever Shawn Camp for assignment on Wednesday and optioned starter Chris Rusin to Triple-A Iowa.

The two moves were made in conjunction with the additions of Pedro Strop and Matt Guerrier to the bullpen.

The Cubs will have to find another starter for Sunday, probably from Iowa. Carlos Villanueva will eventually join the rotation but isn't stretched out yet. Rusin pitched 3 1/3 innings on Tuesday, allowing three runs on six hits in the 8-7 loss to Oakland.

Camp was 1-1 with a 7.04 earned-run average and recently came off the disabled list with a big toe injury.
