Well, that didn't take long.

Only two weeks after they selected him 12th overall at the draft and just a few days removed from prospect development camp, the Coyotes signed center Max Domi to a three-year, entry-level contract Sunday.

"We are very pleased to sign Max to an entry-level contract," General Manager Don Maloney said in a statement released by the club. "Max is a very talented young player with a bright future. He had an impressive prospect development camp, and we look forward to watching his progress."

Interpret this signing as a measure of how serious of an opportunity Domi will be given to nab a roster spot in training camp. Obviously, a contract needs to get settled eventually but there's really no rush if they plan to send him back to junior.

The Coyotes didn't sign last year's first pick Henrik Samuelsson until this March.
