Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Anthony Armstrong has been told by club officials that he will be released according to a source.

Armstrong was competing for one of the Cowboys’ final roster spots as the team cuts its roster down to 53 players before 5 p.m. Saturday. By releasing Armstrong the Cowboys will likely go with five receivers on their final roster with SMU-ex Cole Beasley getting the last spot. Armstrong had four catches for 47 yards this preseason.
