In wake of the back injury suffered to Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, the team tried out a number of players for the position and opted to go with Jon Kitna to back up Kyle Orton. Kitna, now 41, has been with the Cowboys as recently as 2011 and the hope is he will never need to see the field, but they opted to choose him over other quarterbacks that were brought in for tryouts including David Carr, Tyler Thigpin and John Skelton. The Cowboys have not ruled out Romo yet and are calling him day to day after initial reports had him out for the season and requiring surgery.
