The A's have a Hall of Fame catcher, and he's hanging out at their minor-league facility at Papago Park.

He attended several induction ceremonies, knows Cooperstown like the back of his mitt and says one of his favorite places on Earth is the plaque room at the Hall of Fame museum.

"The hallowed ground of professional baseball," Phil Pohl said.

He should know. He grew up there. Cooperstown Central High School, class of 2008. Now he's an A's prospect, experiencing his first spring training and trying to take a different road to baseball glory.
