At first glance, and a quick one at that between tweets, the Colts’ road ahead for the 2013 NFL season doesn’t seem so tough, does it?

That’s not the way to think, of course. Once you get confident or cocky, that’s when humble pie is served. Big slice. Humungous.

But seriously, how do you ignore the initial reaction? Didn’t you think the same thing when the slate was unveiled Thursday night?

The Colts open the season at home against Oakland and Miami? Uh, OK. Thank you. Guess that Raiders opener is a trap game (chuckle?) Can’t beat those guys, you’re in a world of hurt. The Dolphins were tough at Indy last year, but the Colts endured. You would expect them to repeat that performance.

Then Indy travels to San Francisco. OK, the defending NFC champions will be most difficult, perhaps the hardest road trip this team makes all season before the, um, playoffs.

But then the Colts travel the next week to Jacksonville. As much as the Jaguars will be looking to build some sort of positive momentum in the first month of the season, sorry, that’s a “W” unless the Colts don’t show up.

An Oct. 6 home game against Seattle could be one of the more exciting games. QB Russell Wilson vs. QB Andrew Luck. Two of the best up-and-coming teams in the league. Kind of surprised this one didn’t make prime time, to be honest.
