Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews will have the pins removed from his broken right thumb on Nov. 4, the day of his team's "Monday Night Football" appearance against the Chicago Bears, he told ESPN.com on Sunday.

If all goes well, Matthews could return the following week against the Philadelphia Eagles on Nov. 10.

Matthews had a cast on his right hand when he left Mall of America Field after the Packers' 44-31 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday night.

He broke his thumb on Oct. 6 against the Detroit Lions. It was diagnosed as a Bennett's fracture, which is a break at the base of the thumb. He underwent surgery the next day to have pins inserted in order to stabilize the break.
