The Chuck Hayes era in Toronto will have to wait.

Greivis Vasquez, John Salmons and Patrick Patterson — the other players acquired by Raptors from Sacramento — will be available to play on Friday against Philadelphia, but Hayes will miss the game against the 76ers. He also will not play in Chicago on Saturday.

“Chuck Hayes can’t go yet until he has his baseline cardiac testing with the Cleveland Clinic,” Raptors coach Dwane Casey said. “The doctor that does that is out of town. He can’t do that until Monday.”

When negotiating a contract in 2011, Hayes displayed an abnormality during a test. Ultimately, doctors cleared Hayes to play, but the Raptors just want to make sure Hayes is still OK to suit up for the Raptors on a regular basis.

Fear not, though: The deal is still officially done. That means Rudy Gay, Quincy Acy and Aaron Gray are free to play for the Kings against Phoenix on Friday night, too.
